Are there allergens in coffee?
According to the UK Government, coffee not classified as an allergenic ingredient.
The complete list of allergenic ingredients includes:
- Cereals containing gluten such as wheat, rye barley, oats, spelt, kamut, and their hybrid strains
- Peanuts (also known as groundnuts)
Nuts, including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios, macadamias, and Queensland nuts
- Crustaceans (including crabs, lob, shrimp, and prawns)
- Molluscs (including mussels, cockles, oysters, scallops, squid, and octopus)
- Sesame seeds
- Eggs
- Milk and dairy products
- Soybeans
- Celery
- Lupin
- Mustard
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites above 10 mg/kg or 10 mg/litre expressed as SO2
This pertains not only to the ingredients but also to any remnants present in the final product, even in altered forms.
We exclusively use 100% Arabica coffee, clearly labeled on our bags.
While coffee is not on the allergenic list, we advise that our coffee (unless decinated) may not be suitable for individuals with heightened caffeine sensitivity.
